Red Bull Domination

This weekend in Singapore, Sebastian Vettel showed us once again why he is the World’s best Formula 1™ pilot, and his team Red Bull Racing why they are dominating the sport.

The German owned the Marina Bay Street Circuit from start to finish. Under floodlit skies, a flood of fastest laps early in the race allowed Vettel to open up a huge gap between himself and McLaren-Mercedes driver Jenson Button, who spent the entire race chasing Vettel in vain.

Well, not entirely in vain. Button, who has really put it in high gear of late with four trips to the podium in as many races including the win in Hungary, piloted his McLaren Mercedes flawlessly in the final laps, destroying Vettel’s lead. For his efforts, the British driver walked away with the Fastest Lap and a great deal of respect from his fellow drivers.

There’s no question that team Red Bull has dominated the 2011 season. With only one point separating him from the World Championship, Vettel will most certainly be crowned on October 9 in Japan. His team has all but solidified their place at the top of the Constructors’ standings, as well. And as if that weren’t enough, Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber is not only well placed to compete for a spot on the podium in November – he’s currently in fourth place, but only 3 points behind second-place Button– he’s also got a very solid hold on the 2011 DHL Fastest Lap Trophy.

Only McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, with two and three Fastest Laps, respectively, on the season, are in any position to prove otherwise.
