Mexico Fashion Week

Mexico City’s become a Mecca for Latin American designers and fashion faithfuls travelled to the capital city last week to see the designs in store for next spring at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico.

Gone are the Mayan patterns so often associated with “south of the border” style. In their place are satiny solids in colors as brilliant as the mid-day sun in the city.

The vibrancy was a clear contrast to the wares out on display across the pond in Paris. With solid lines and dipping necklines, the designs at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico were a fun mix of cutting edge and artful pragmatism. In short: Mexican fashion is more metropolitan casual than the Boho look inspired by Frida Kahlo.

With so much of the focus in fashion looking at designs on the old continent, Mexico City’s often left out of the style dialogue. In a global world, though, there’s no reason to maintain the disparity. DHL’s extensive capabilities and services in over 220 countries can help designers from around the world, including those in Latin America, quickly get their styles out of production and onto display.
