New Zealand trendsetters NYNE get a lift with the DHL fashion export scholarship

New Zealand may be a tiny country, but those South Pacific islands have enormous creative energy, as the designers behind the Hamilton-based clothing line NYNE show.

The NYNE trio uses fluid fabrics to create asymmetrical, layerable shapes that transform everyday streetwear styles into easily-personalized, head-turning fashions. With a palette of neutral colors and dark metallics, the designs work both day and night, in the city and the countryside.

And now, thanks to a DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship, NYNE styles may soon be coming to a store near you.

The scholarship, which provides international freight as well as coaching in freight and logistics from DHL is a real fire-starter for up-and-coming designers. Last year’s winners Twenty-Seven Names were able to get their clothing into buyers’ hands in Europe and America.

NYNE, already a popular brand in boutiques across New Zealand and Australia, will finally be able to make the leap overseas.

"We are very excited about receiving this award and are looking forward to partnering with DHL to move our brand forward, explore further international markets and increase our export sales," said Jacob Scott-Simmonds, one of the group's three designers.

Likewise, DHL's excited to help these young designers grow.
