Brand World’s Best Moments: 2011 Recap

DHL has had an exciting year in 2011!

The year started out with big news: DHL signed a three-year contract to become the Official Logistics Partner of Manchester United. Our commitment to excellence won the trust of the world’s most popular football club. Not only are we undertaking the logistics for the team’s travels, we are also working with the Manchester United Foundation to develop a series of community programs to improve the lives of vulnerable young people.

Football’s not the only sport to benefit from DHL’s logistics capabilities. As the Official Logistics Partner for the Rugby World Cup this year, DHL helped bring the world to New Zealand for exciting play-off events. Former All Blacks’ star Sean Fitzpatrick acted as DHL Global Rugby Ambassador, delivering Rugby to the world with a series of personal insights and behind-the-scenes looks. It’s not all boots in the DHL world, though. As Official Logistics Partner for Fashion Weeks around the world, DHL slips on stilettos to help designers get their gowns out on the runway and into the world. At London Fashion Week, that included hiring models to accompany drivers delivering front-row fashion to customers’ homes and offices.

Designer dresses aren’t the only delicate goods we handled this year. When fall arrived, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra launched its European tour, with DHL handling the transportation of over 100 delicate musical instruments, alongside vital stage gear. Working against the clock, we simply delivered excellence to make sure all instruments arrive on schedule without the slightest flaw.

Red Bull driver Mark Webber understands the flawless need for speed. As the winner of the 2011 DHL Fastest Lap Award at Formal 1TM, Webber’s seven fastest laps during the 20-race season demonstrated speed and excellence. Snatching up the final Grand Prix of the 2011 Formula 1TM season, he is proven and honored to be the fastest man on the track this year, after an eventful season.

Just as the Formula One Season was coming to a close, the tri-annual Volvo Global Ocean Race kicked off on a nine-month round-the-world voyage. DHL’s proud to be handling the unique logistics for this event, which from Day One has seen rough waters. The 38,270 mile trip kicked-off in Spain and troubles brewed quickly offshore. DHL was there to help – and in December, presented Team Sanya with the inaugural DHL Shore Crew Award for their team efforts. Sailing fans can keep pace with the race on the Volvo Ocean Race Viewer. What’s more: By taking part in the Volvo Global Ocean Race Tournament, you may also get a chance to take home a brand new Volvo XC60 Ocean Race Edition as the ultimate winner!
