Champ19ns Trophy Tour kickoff a success

DHL – the Official Logistics Partner of the Manchester United football club – has teamed up with “the Reds” to deliver the Premier League Trophy on a world tour. The tour began with a successful event in Delhi on February 4.

The four-month tour kicked off in Delhi on Saturday February 4. Manchester United legends Denis Irwin and Quinton Fortune as well as the club’s famous mascot, Fred The Red, were on hand to present the trophy, sign signature cards and talk to customers and fans about what it’s like to play for the most popular club in the world.

This is the first time the club has toured India with the trophy, and it has garnered much attention from the media. The kick-off event featured a well-attended press conference hosted by Jerry Hsu, CEO of DHL Express Asia Pacific, followed by a gathering of nearly 100 DHL customers and their families who got the opportunity to meet Denis Irwin and Quinton Fortune in person, not to mention have their photo taken with the Premier League Trophy.

At the press conference, Hsu said: "Manchester United has a huge following in Asia which is DHL's fastest growing region in our network. As the Official Logistics Partner of Manchester United, the DHL Champ19ns Trophy Tour is an extension of our partnership, which sees us transporting the trophy to 27 destinations worldwide, travelling almost 48,000 miles. The Tour is an excellent opportunity for our customers and employees to meet Manchester United legends and see the Premier League trophy for themselves."

After visiting a number of sites in Delhi, including the Red Fort, India Gate and Lotus Temple, among others, the tour moved on to Mumbai on Monday February 6.

As the club’s Official Logistics Partner, DHL plays a key role behind the scenes when it comes to delivering success for Manchester United. After a successful tour through Latin America, DHL is again making the most of its global network to transport the Premier League trophy to 27 destinations, including Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, South Africa, and Kenya, to name a few.

Other Manchester United legends are scheduled to join the tour along the way: Andrew Cole, Lee Sharpe, Bryan Robson, and Paul Parker, with others still to be confirmed.
