After the February 27th earthquake: DHL EXPRESS resumes basic service in Chile’s principal regions



After intense work, the multinational delivery company initiated operations in nine of the country’s thirteen regions, hoping to restart international services as soon as operations normalize at the Chilean capital’s airport.

Santiago, March 4, 2010 – Five days after one of the strongest earthquakes in the last 50 years in Chile’s history, DHL Chile announced that it began basic operational service and delivery in nine of the country’s thirteen national regions on March 2.

The announcement was made by Adolfo Sommer, Country Manager for Chile, who noted that “together with appreciating the commitment and safe delivery of the hundreds of DHL Chile employees, we want to express our solidarity with the many families that are suffering the loss of a loved one. Because of this, and understanding that communications are basic in situations like this, we have worked diligently to restore our transport network, to be ready to offer our delivery services following one of the biggest natural catastrophes that Chile has ever had.”

The worldwide leader of express and logistics services also indicated that its customer service center is now operative through at 800-800-345, along with its website, www.dhl.cl.

The company noted that international services are starting to return, to the extent that international flights have now begun to operate at the airport.
