Deutsche Post starts an online project to make children fit for the media

Deutsche Post will start in partnership with the german „Foundation Read“ a free online platform for elementary school children. With one mouse click on informations or exciting games: the children in Germany are now able to discover the world of New Media on www.clixmix.de.

The new non-commercial and free online portal attended primary school children in the current media world - and wants to get them fit for the media future. From the beginning of time: jumping into the world of dinosaurs to a fascinating journey into the inner workings of a high-tech tractor: movies, radio plays, quizzes and interactive modules make it possible to trace child-friendly themes independently.

"I am glad to take over the sponsorship of this new online platform ," said Dr. Annette Schavan, German Federal Minister for Education and Research: The project fulfills a "total social educational mission enabling children for a critical and responsible participation in an increasingly digital world .“

Jürgen Gerdes, member of the Board Deutsche Post DHL, said: "As a responsible company, we know how important it is to teach the youngest generation for a safe entrance onto the Internet. Security and trust are the hallmarks of Deutsche Post. Clixmix offers children an interactive journey of discovery in a safe environment and allows a competent use of the new media.“

Beginning in autumn 2010, the interactive and creative aspects of Clixmix will be further developed: The kids are able to propose their own topics and to issue their self-designed work.
