Deutsche Post DHL and UN OCHA extend humanitarian partnership

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) and Deutsche Post DHL, the world's leading post and logistics service provider, renewed on Tuesday their successful partnership, started in 2005, for another three years. The extension contract was signed in Geneva by Rashid Khalikov, Director of UN OCHA Geneva and Rainer Wend, Executive Vice President Corporate Public Policy and Sustainability at Deutsche Post DHL.

Deutsche Post DHL initiates own climate protection project

Deutsche Post DHL is initiating its own climate protection project. With the introduction of firewood stoves, stainless steel stoves which use less energy and stay warm for longer, in Lesotho, Deutsche Post DHL now wants to finance and co-ordinate its own long-term, wide-ranging climate protection project with the highest internationally recognised standards for the first time.

DHL expands road freight services to North Africa

DHL has further expanded its road freight services to the North African region. Following the successful launch of the DHL Euroconnect product to and from Morocco in April of this year DHL Freight now offers groupage services to and from Tunisia.

Deutsche Post DHL's climate protection management among the best in Germany

Deutsche Post DHL is one of Germany's top companies in the area of climate protection management and climate reporting. This is revealed in the Germany Report of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) presented today at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Deutsche Post DHL is in second place in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index in the area of "climate reporting" and was also included in the "climate performance" category of the Carbon Disclosure Performance Leadership Index with the highest rating "A". The Group achieved similarly positive results in the Global 500 Report of the Carbon Disclosure Project which was published in September.

Nepal next to benefit from DHL's Disaster Preparedness Program
Nepal will be the latest beneficiary of the disaster preparedness program launched last year by Deutsche Post DHL and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The so-called "Get Airports Ready for Disaster" program (GARD) aims to prepare airports and staff in disaster prone areas to cope with the impact of a natural catastrophe and to efficiently deal with the logistics during relief efforts.

DHL extends relief efforts in Pakistan

Following a request by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in Pakistan, the United Nations have recommended to extend the deployment of the Disaster Response Team in Pakistan for an additional two weeks. In the wake of a continuing difficult situation caused by nationwide flooding, Pakistan is still dependent on international assistance and efficient logistics support at the airport in Islamabad.

DHL helps Valtra to reduce its carbon footprint - 300 trees were planted for the benefit of the environment

Tractor manufacturer Valtra has offset some 270 tons of carbon dioxide emissions arisen from its spare part transports during August-December 2009. This was possible through cooperation with DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company. Valtra is the first large industrial company in Finland to use DHL’s carbon-neutral GOGREEN service for all its express shipments.
