Customer Success Story
The perfect scoop
As the global market for ice cream grows, leading manufacturers find themselves competing for profits in developing regions. Here, supply chain agility and competitive pricing are key to success – especially in Mexico, where increasing brand awareness is heating up the competition for frozen treats.
To protect and expand its local market share, a top ice cream manufacturer sought to trim distribution costs and speed time-to-market by locating a second refrigerated warehouse next to its manufacturing plant.
DHL Supply Chain stepped in with cool confidence: well-versed in all aspects of logistic complexity, the local team used DePICT, a proprietary project management methodology, to orchestrate the required design, construction and operations phases.
Customer Success Story
The perfect scoop
The client’s brief called for a 3,600-square-metre distribution centre – equivalent to 18 tennis courts – with special dispensation for extra-dense rack structures to ensure maximum capacity and warehouse efficiency.
DHL Supply Chain became the client’s single point of contact and completed construction in record time – without disrupting existing plant operations. Now, the new warehouse management system and simplified distribution network not only permits a monthly throughput of 860,000 cases, but also sets new industry standards in energy-saving refrigeration.
The result: lower distribution costs, an impressive 99 per cent inventory accuracy and – thanks to reliably low temperatures – improved product quality and extended shelf life.
